Deep Cleaning in Seattle, WA: Where Dust and Dog Hair Hide in a Small Home

Where does dust go in a small house with a dog? Not onto the middle of the floor, where anyone would notice it. It settles on edges, in tracks and grooves, and on flat surfaces nobody looks at closely. This Seattle homeowner booked a deep clean, and the cleaner went after exactly those places. Here is what they looked like, spot by spot.

The top edge of the baseboards

From standing height the baseboards looked white. At floor level there was a gray line along the top lip, where dust and fine hair land and stay. A vacuum pass along the floor does not reach it. Baseboards were wiped by hand around the rooms, including the stretches behind a tower fan and furniture.

Flat tops: consoles, shelves, nightstands

On a wood-grain surface, dog hair blends in until the light catches it. The TV console was covered with loose, light-colored hairs, and a dark shelf in the living room had the same scatter plus lint. Hair on a flat surface does not wipe up well with a dry cloth; it smears along. It has to be lifted with a damp cloth, working in one direction, before the surface is polished.

Window tracks and frames

Window tracks collect everything that drifts toward the glass. In the bedroom the channel along the screen was lined with gray dust, and the sill had its own layer. The same window after cleaning:

Tracks are vacuumed first to pull out the loose dust, then wiped out with a narrow cloth or brush so the corners come clean too. The sills and frames around the other windows in the house got the same treatment.

Outlets, switches and furniture legs

These are small, but they add up. In the bathroom the wall around one outlet cover had gray marks along the edge of the plate. Switch plates, outlet covers, table legs and the backs of furniture were all on the list, because in a home with a dog, hair collects low and behind things.

The bathtub

The tub floor had a gray film of soap residue and grime, darkest near the drain and along the bottom. The bathroom also covered the sink and the fixtures.

Soap film comes off with a cleaner made for it, given a few minutes to work, and a non-scratch pad. Rushing it with an abrasive would dull the finish of the tub.

Why a checklist matters on a deep clean

None of these spots is hard to clean. They are easy to skip. JenyClean cleaners go through a 10-day onboarding with a supervisor and work from room-by-room checklists, which is what keeps baseboards, tracks and outlet covers from being forgotten on a deep clean. The result in this small home was the one the homeowner asked for: rooms that looked and felt fresher, not just tidier.
