The request came through Yelp and it was unusually specific. The homeowner in Redmond did not want a whole-house cleaning. She wanted three things handled properly: the bathroom with its walk-in shower room, the outdoor hot tub, and the kitchen. Everything else she was fine with. She had one condition, too: eco-friendly products only. There was a small child in the house.
Partial cleaning is a normal request for JenyClean. It is billed by the hour, and the cleaner works only the zones the client points to. What made this one worth writing up is how the day actually went.
The pink film in the shower room
The shower was not a stall. It was a full tiled room, white textured tile floor to ceiling, black pebble floor, a fixed shower head on one wall and a hand shower on a rail on the other. Along the seams and in the lower corners the tile had turned pink.

That pink film is something every cleaner in the Seattle area knows. It is not mold. It is a bacterial film that grows on damp surfaces, and it has one annoying property: if you only wipe it off, it comes back within days. To keep it away you have to actually kill it, and the products that do that reliably are not the eco line.
So the cleaner did the honest thing. She explained this to the homeowner and asked whether she could use a bleach-based cleaner on the pink areas only, testing it first on a small, hidden patch low on the wall. The homeowner agreed to the test, came to look at the patch, said it was fine, and the pink film came off the whole room. The rest of the bathroom stayed on eco products as requested.
The part that took longer than the pink film was the hard water. Redmond water leaves a white scale on glass and on chrome, and this shower had both: the glass door and the metal rail and hose holders were coated. That is slow, manual work with a descaler and a non-scratch pad, and it is where most of the bathroom time went.

The hot tub
Before the visit, the cleaner had asked the homeowner to drain the hot tub so it could be cleaned empty. On the day, it was still full. The family had tried: something in the drain system was not working and they could not get a hose attached. The homeowner was apologetic and asked whether it could still be done.

The cleaner looked at it and estimated an hour and a half to two hours of extra work. Then she bailed it out with a small bucket. More than seventy buckets, carried out one at a time, because a large bucket of water is too heavy to lift over the rim safely. When the water was down to a few inches she climbed in and scrubbed the shell, the seats and every jet by hand, then soaked up the last of the water with towels so the tub was dry and ready to refill.
The homeowner came out partway through to see how it was going, said “nice,” and went back to work. At the end she came out again, looked at the empty, clean shell, and said “perfect.”

The kitchen, and a few extra minutes
The kitchen zone was mostly the range hood, which was thick with grease, and the splash guard behind the cooktop. Both were degreased and polished. The cleaner finished with a little time left on the clock, so she asked the homeowner what else would help. The answer was the outside of the windows the family could see from the living room. JenyClean normally cleans windows from the inside only, but these were not heavily soiled, and they got done.
What this partial clean shows
Three things about how JenyClean works are visible in this job.
First, the cleaner did not quietly switch products. She asked, tested on a hidden spot, and let the homeowner decide. The eco-only request was respected everywhere except one agreed exception.
Second, a problem that was not in the plan, a hot tub that could not be drained, was solved on the spot rather than pushed back to the client. The extra time was named up front before the work started.
Third, the time estimate was honest. Bailing a hot tub by hand is slow, and the cleaner said so instead of promising a quick job.
The homeowner booked JenyClean for regular cleaning after this visit. That is the usual pattern: roughly one in six new clients stays on a recurring plan, and recurring cleaning is about 70% of what the company does.
