Whole-House Deep Cleaning in Issaquah, WA: The Checklist, Sorted by Type of Dirt

A deep clean is not a regular cleaning done harder. It is a different list. A regular visit keeps up with the week; a deep clean goes after months of buildup: film on the glass, dust on top of the furniture, grime inside the appliances and behind them.

This family in Issaquah booked exactly that as a starting point. Their home is about 2,000 square feet with two bathrooms, and the plan was to move to recurring cleaning afterward. The first job was a whole-house deep clean, done by one cleaner.

Instead of walking through it room by room, this case sorts the work by the kind of dirt, because each kind needs its own approach.

1. Fingerprints and smears on stainless steel

The dishwasher and the bottom-freezer refrigerator both have stainless fronts, and both showed it. The dishwasher door had vertical drip marks running down from the handle, smudges across the lower half, and a cloudy haze over the whole panel. The refrigerator door and freezer drawer had fingerprints at hand height and dull smeared patches where they had been wiped in circles.

Stainless steel is easy to make worse. A wet cloth moved in circles just spreads the film around and leaves swirl marks. The fronts were cleaned with a product suited to stainless, then wiped and buffed in the direction of the grain, top to bottom, until the reflection ran in clean vertical lines again.

2. Crumbs and dried spills inside appliances

Inside the countertop microwave, crumbs and small splatters were stuck to every wall, to the ceiling around the light cover, and all over the floor of the cavity. The glass turntable had a brown ring where the roller track sits. The interior was cleaned wall by wall and the tray washed. A faint mark stayed on the glass afterward; not every baked-on ring lifts completely.

Inside the refrigerator, a produce drawer had dried brown spills, overlapping rings where jars had stood, and bits of greens stuck to the bottom. The drawer was taken out, washed and dried before going back in, clear and bright.

The stainless kitchen sink had a brown film across the bottom around the disposal flange, water marks on the sides, and white residue on the counter around the faucet base. After cleaning, the basin is an even satin finish. The fine scratches in the steel remain: that is wear, not dirt.

3. Grease and burnt food on the gas cooktop

Crumbs and burnt food were scattered across the burner pans and around the burner heads, grease spots had dried on the enamel, and the center griddle plate had stuck-on debris and drips. The control panel beside it was spotted and smudged.

A cooktop like this is done in layers: grates and griddle off, loose debris out, a degreaser on the enamel and left to work, then the burned-on bits lifted with a non-scratch pad so the enamel is not scratched. The grates and griddle are cleaned separately and set back only once everything underneath is dry.

After cleaning, the burner pans are glossy black again, the griddle is clear, and the control panel is clean enough to read at an angle.

4. Dust on flat tops and in the places nobody touches

On a white dresser top, a vintage-style lantern, a round battery light and a small decorative bin sat in a visible layer of gray dust. Every item was lifted, the top was wiped down to the paint, the items themselves were dusted, and then everything went back in place. On the top of another white cabinet, the dust was thick enough that objects had left clean outlines behind when they were moved: a circle, a rectangle, a smaller square. After wiping, the surface is one even white.

The most telling spot in the whole house was at floor level, behind a toilet.

The water supply line, the shutoff valve and the round wall plate behind it were wrapped in a thick coat of gray dust and lint, fuzzy enough to hide the braided steel of the hose. That is what time does to a part nobody ever looks at.

After cleaning, the braided hose, the valve with its blue fitting and the wall plate are clean metal again. It is a quick job, and the clearest example of what “deep” means in practice: the list includes the places a regular visit reasonably skips.

5. Mineral scale and film in two bathrooms

The home has two bathrooms with two very different showers, and they needed different handling.

The first has frosted sliding doors. Frosted glass hides scale from a distance, but up close these panels had white water spots across the upper half and dark spotting along the lower edge, where water sits longest after each shower. Scale settles into the texture, so the panels were treated with a descaler, worked with a soft brush, and rinsed.

The second shower has a clear glass door, and the difference before and after is easier to see.

A white cloud of scale covered the whole door, so the hexagon mosaic strip on the back wall and the light fixture reflected in the glass were both blurred. The glass was treated with a descaler, given time to work, cleaned with a non-scratch pad across the whole panel, then rinsed and dried.

After cleaning, the mosaic tile is sharp through the glass and the shower pan is glossy white.

The tub had its own scale problem. The spout was coated in white mineral crust, and the valve trim plate behind the handle had brown streaks and dark patches. The spout and handle came back to bright chrome. The trim plate improved, but streaks remain on it. That is damage to the plated finish, not dirt, and no amount of scrubbing will bring it back. It is worth pointing out to a homeowner, because the fix for it is a new trim plate, not another cleaning.

What the list is for

A deep clean like this one is a long list of small, specific jobs, and it only works if nothing on the list gets skipped. JenyClean cleaners go through a 10-day onboarding with a supervisor and work from room-by-room checklists, which is how a supply line behind a toilet or a produce drawer at the bottom of the fridge ends up on the same list as the shower glass.

JenyClean has been cleaning homes in Issaquah and across the Eastside since 2022, and the company is based here. For this family, the deep clean was the reset. From here, recurring visits only have to keep up.
