A small house can hide a lot of work. This one in Issaquah was under 1,000 square feet with two bathrooms, and on paper it looked like a quick job. The owner was preparing it to rent out and booked a move-out cleaning with JenyClean on August 5. The detail that changed the scope: the home had never had a professional cleaning. Not once. Everything that a regular service would have kept in check over the years was still there, just behind closed doors and inside appliances.
This case goes zone by zone, because that is how a rental-ready move-out has to be approached, and because an empty home shows every corner that a furnished one hides.
Why an empty rental is a different job
When a home is lived in, cleaning is mostly about surfaces people see and touch. When it is empty and about to be handed to new tenants, the standard changes. The next people to live there will open every cabinet, pull out every fridge drawer, look into the oven, and stand in the empty closets while deciding where things go. Anything left inside is the first thing they notice.
So a move-out for a rental covers the insides of everything: cabinets and shelves, closets, the oven, the refrigerator and its drawers, the microwave, plus the bathrooms from top to base and the floors along every baseboard. JenyClean cleaners work from room-by-room checklists for exactly this reason. On an empty home, the list is what keeps a small cabinet under the sink from being skipped.
Kitchen: the oven
The oven was the heaviest single item in the kitchen. The door glass, lying open, was covered in a yellow-brown film of baked grease with dark spots across it, and the oven floor and the edge of the door seal had grease and crumbs worked into the corners. The racks were dull with residue.

Baked grease does not wipe off. It has to be softened with a degreaser, given time to work, then lifted with a scraper and non-scratch pads, and often treated a second time on the worst patches. The inside walls, the floor, the racks and the door glass were all done.

After cleaning, the door glass is clear enough to reflect the racks above it, and the racks themselves are back to bright metal.
Kitchen: refrigerator, cooktop, microwave, sink
The French-door refrigerator had fingerprints and smudges across the stainless doors and the freezer drawer. Stainless steel shows every wipe mark, so it was cleaned and then polished in the direction of the grain. Inside, the freezer and crisper drawers had crumbs, dried drips and stuck bits of food in the corners. They were taken out, washed and dried before going back in.
The induction cooktop had cloudy stains and dried marks around the cooking zones. Glass cooktops look clean from a distance and show everything in side light, so the surface was cleaned with a product made for glass-ceramic and buffed dry.
The microwave had crumbs and debris on the turntable and splatter on the inside walls. It was cleaned inside, turntable included. The stainless double sink had water spots and residue around the drains and was washed and wiped dry so it would not spot again right away.
Storage: cabinets, shelves and closets
This is where “never professionally cleaned” was most visible.
In one of the cabinets, a middle shelf had sticky brown rings, the overlapping circles jars and bottles leave when something has dripped down the outside. Next to them were crumbs and drips down the front edge, and the bottom of the cabinet had a layer of dust.

Sticky rings need a warm, soapy solution and some dwell time before they release; scrubbing them dry just smears them wider. Every shelf, the cabinet floor and the inside of the frame were wiped.

The rings and crumbs are gone. A few fine marks remain in the shelf surface. That is wear in the finish, which cleaning can reveal but not remove, and it is worth saying so honestly to an owner before listing a unit.
The walk-in closet had open shelving units and a tiled floor scattered with debris: small rubber rings, bits of paper and plastic, and a dusty film on the tile. It was cleared, the shelf bases and uprights were wiped, and the floor was washed until the tile had its shine back. In a bathroom, a dark wood cabinet had dust and debris packed around its base where it met the floor. That line along the bottom of dark furniture is easy to miss when standing, and very visible to someone crouching to look inside.
Bathrooms: two of them, top to base
Both bathrooms needed the full treatment.
The toilets had dark streaks on the underside of the seat and lid, a stained ring in the bowl at the waterline, and grime built up around the base and the bolt caps on the floor. The bowls were treated and brushed, the seats and hinges cleaned, and the base and floor around it scrubbed, the part of a bathroom a new tenant sees the first time they use it.
A bathroom vanity had a stone-look countertop covered in dried splatter and water spots around an undermount sink. The tub had a gray film across the bottom of the basin, the kind of dull layer that builds from soap and water over years. The tub faucet and the shower valve trim were spotted with mineral scale. The counter, sink, tub and fixtures were cleaned and the chrome descaled and polished.
Empty rooms: dust where the furniture used to be
With no furniture in the rooms, the dust that had collected along the walls was out in the open. Baseboards had a line of dust and debris along the floor, and in some corners there was loose dirt and scuffs on the lower walls. Floors were vacuumed along every edge and then washed, and the baseboards were wiped by hand.
Closing the job
A move-out for a rental is only finished when it would pass a tenant’s walkthrough, not the cleaner’s own. At JenyClean, a team lead spot-checks deep cleans and move-outs before the job is closed, going through exactly the places this case covers: inside the oven, the fridge drawers, the cabinet floors, the base of the toilets.
For the owner, the result was the practical one: no more worrying about the state of the house. It was ready for new tenants.
